Systemic Research presents highlights of three NSF Programs at the American Council for Education Conference in Phoenix
Systemic Research presented highlights of three National Science Foundation undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs during the American Council for Education biennial “Educating All of One Nation” Conference in Phoenix, AZ, on October 7, 2005.

MIE Program Highlights Presented during 2005 American Education Research Association Meeting: News Articles on the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Systemic Research and six MIE institutions held a symposium entitled “Undergraduate Retention Models in Minority Serving Institutions: Findings from the NSF & NASA’s MIE Program” during the 2005 American Education Research Association Meeting in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 13 presenting MIE Program highlights focusing on undergraduate student retention. The Chronicle of Higher Education published an article describing the session in the Today’s News section of the periodical.

HBCU-UP Program Highlights Presented at 2005 AERA Meeting
The HBCU-UP program highlights and case stories, Strengthening the Foundation of Future Black Scientists and Engineers, was presented at the 2005 American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting held in Montreal, Canada on April 13, 2005 by spokespeople from Systemic Research, Albany State University, North Carolina A&T State University, Prairie View A&M University and Southern University at New Orleans. The symposium shared overall HBCU-UP program highlights and outcomes and each of the four institutions presented their HBCU-UP project goals and objectives, implementation strategies, and achievement focusing on improvement on student outcome and infrastructure development in STEM education reform.

Tenth Annual MIE/MSET Workshop
The Tenth Annual MIE MSET workshop was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 11-12, 2005. The workshop was attended by 21 participants representing PIs/PDs, and data managers from the six MIE institutions, National Science Foundation, and research companies. The purpose of the workshop was to disseminate and review MSET-2005, review MIE Fact Book 2004, and share current and future activities and issues.

Aims Key Indicator System (AKIS-2005) Workshop
The 2nd Annual AIMS AKIS workshop was held during the fifteenth annual Salish Kootenai College Tribal Register’s Workshop on the grounds of the college on July 26, 2005. Approximately 50 representatives from most of the TCUs attended the workshop. The main purpose of the workshop was to disseminate and review AKIS-2005 and view the first draft of each institution’s 2004 AIMS report.

Third Annual TCUP TSET Workshop
The Third Annual TCUP/TSET Workshop for PI/PD’s, Data Managers and Local Evaluators was held at the Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on June 23, 2005. The workshop was attended by thirtysix participants, including PI/PD’s, data managers, and evaluators, representing 25 TCUP institutions from all four TCUP implementation cohorts, one planning grant institution and Systemic Research.

HBCU-UP SEIS-2005 Workshop
The HBUC-UP SEIS-2005 Workshop was held Tuesday, April 22, 2005 as a breakout session during the NSF HRD Joint Annual Meeting 2005 at the Grand Hyatt Washington hotel in Washington, DC. Seventy-five people representing 39 Historically Black Colleges and Universities attended the session.
