Professional Development Management and Analysis

Researchers and practitioners agree that professional development (PD) is one of the most critical factors for successful implementation of educational reform. PDMA (Professional Development Management and Analysis) is an instrument specifically designed to assist PD developers and managers with PD management and reporting to allow further in depth analysis. PDMA provides a foundation to measure the impact of PD at the classroom level by logically linking participating teachers and PD activities.

PDMA is a network ready, Microsoft Access® application designed to enable sharing among collaborating PD managers and coordinators. This network application provides a basis for effective coordination among multiple users and locations. Data redundancy is reduced while data consistency and integrity is increased.

PDMA is built on a relational database structure, consisting of three major databases:

  • The Professional Development Database includes information regarding PD programs, the PD learning community and PD research.
  • The Teacher/Staff Database contains contact information, PD participation data, degree and certification information, and teaching assignments.
  • The PD Provider Database maintains records of institutions and individuals who provide PD.

PDMA 5.0 features include:

  • PD categories for various types of activities
  • PD Provider Database for individuals from various organizations
  • Capability to design and print PD certificates
  • Capability to design and print PD evaluation forms
  • PD activity schedule
  • Advanced database search
  • Address label printing
  • Customizable category/list management

PDMA features a user-friendly Windows design based on an intuitive interface.
